Search Committee Update

After more than a year of the Lead Minister search process, the Search Committee has narrowed our search to one, wonderful, final choice and recommendation – from a pool of three final candidates who each varied in experience and background. We reviewed more than 50 applications and had personal conversations and multi-staged interviews with multiple candidates. Our process was robust, thorough, and comprehensive! As a result, we feel confident and optimistic about where we are, and that God has been speaking to us throughout.

The Candidating Weekend will take place October 14-15, which will include the following activities, open to all:

Saturday, October 14, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Candidate Meet & Greet

Sunday, October 15, 9:30 am

ONE worship service, followed immediately by the Special Congregational Meeting, where Members of FCC will vote whether to extend the call to our candidate.

Lead Minister Search Process

With a balance of thoughtful discernment and a sense of urgency, the Search Committee will listen for God's guidance as we find our next lead minister.

  • build and install a search committee

The Church Council selects a representative group of members to serve on the search committee, and the Congregation blesses them.

  • Create church profile

We engage the Congregation to give input for the extensive profile about who we are, and who we seek.

  • consider all candidates

The Search Committee receives all applications that have been submitted, and may request additional information as needed.

  • select possible candidates

The Search Committee identifies candidates to interview, and may begin initial conversations with possible candidates.

  • interview finalists

The Search Committee conducts in-person interviews with several finalists, and may also see them preach elsewhere.

  • recommend a candidate

The Search Committee puts forward one final candidate, who will preach in our church and spend time getting to know our Congregation.

  • congregational vote

Following the candidate’s visit, the Congregation votes on whether to formalize the hire of the candidate.

  • installation

We officially welcome our new lead minister to our Congregation and community, and celebrate the conclusion of the search process!

Our Search Committee

Please keep our Search Committee in your prayers as, with God’s grace and guidance, they help shape the future of our beloved First Congregational United Church of Christ.
