Weekly Sunday Services
FEBRUARY 2012 WORSHIP – Sunday morning services at 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary Sunday, February 5 – 5th Sunday after Epiphany  Today begins Women’s Week in the United Church of Christ. The Joyful Noise Children’s Choir sings at the 9:00 service and the Chancel Choir at the 11:00. Rev. Jacque Franklin preaches on Mark 1:29-39 a sermon entitled “Out of the Box .”
Sunday, February 12 – 6th Sunday after Epiphany – Evolution Sunday  Today is our annual Evolution Sunday. Rev. Broadbent preaches a sermon on Psalm 148 entitled “Let All Creation Sing.”
Sunday, February 19 – Transfiguration Sunday  Today marks the last Sunday after Epiphany. Rev. Broadbent preaches a sermon on the story of Jesus’ transfiguration in Mark 9:2-9 entitled “Thin Places.”
Wednesday, February 22 – Ash Wednesday  The season of Lent begins today, marking a time of penance and preparation for Holy Week, beginning April 1.
We gather for two services today: Noon – Service in the Chapel with Imposition of Ashes 7:00 p.m. - Service of Taizé Prayer in the Sanctuary with Imposition of Ashes
Sunday, March 26 – First Sunday in Lent  During Lent, we will be practicing and deepening into our understanding of The Lord’s Prayer, prayed regularly by over a billion people. Today we begin with the opening phrase, “Our Mother, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name…” We will begin the practice of hearing from a New Testament character who will extinguish the first of six candles on a ritual crown of thorns.
Coming in March… Choral Settings of “The Lord’s Prayer,” ASL Interpretation, Body Prayers, weekly Lenten Taizé services on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., beginning March 1.
