FAITH FORMATION COMMITTEE
Statement of Purpose: The Faith Formation Committee members participate in policy-creation, planning, implementation, and decisions regarding the educational programs of the church. The committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Church Library. Prospective members are always welcome to attend. For further information, please contact Education Coordinator Del Hokanson at 635-3549, Youth & Young Adult Coordinator Marta Fioriti at 635-3549 or Co-Chair Casey Tencick at 471-9466 & Co-Chair Tom Francis at 388-8348.
Sunday School Sunday School invites children ages preschool through grade eight to an hour of faith, friendships and fun. Over the year, four six week sessions, a month long rotational workshop and special summer programming are offered. The Seasons of the Spirit curriculum offers both engaging learning and teacher-friendly practices and ideas. Volunteers are always needed to provide quality programming for our children. Sunday School is offered at both Sunday services except the first Sunday of each month. Children's Worship On the first Sunday of each month, preschool through first grade students are invited to a special Children’s Worship. Older children stay with their families and are welcome to participate in Communion. Kid's Summer Community This annual week long program is always exciting and educational. Stay tuned for updates on the 2011 summer program. Retreats & Summer Camps Middle school and high school youth groups are involved in retreats throughout the year. These are generally coordinated by our Youth and Young Adult Director, Marta Fioriti at 635-3549. Summer Camp programs are offered at La Foret, the United Church of Christ camp and retreat center located in Black Forest. This beautiful facility offers week long programs for students in grade two through twelve. Information and registration is generally available in February at the Rocky Mountain Conference website, www.rmcucc.org. Adult Bible Studies/Book Studies Several weekly Bible studies are offered. Check the on-line calendar for current dates, times and locations. Book studies change frequently and are only limited by the commitment and imagination of our congregation. If you are interested in leading either a Bible or book study, please contact Education Coordinator Del Hokanson at 635-3549 or Committee Chair Casey Tencick at 471-9466. Adult Forum The Forum addresses timely topics and generally features a knowledgeable presenter from the congregation or community. Topics cover a broad range of issues. For example, this year’s topics have ranged from sustainable living to the Palstinian/Israelian conflict. The Forum is held most weeks from 10:00-10:50 in the Chapel adjacent to the Fellowship Hall. Other Adult Education Opportunities The Christian Education Committee is currently seeking two members with a passion and willingness to share their talents: an adult Season of the Spirit Sunday School class and a blog master that could coordinate an internet forum.
