Music & Arts
To commemorate Musician Appreciation Sunday members of musical ensembles of First Congregational Church joined together in May, 2006. Musicians from the Chancel Choir, Flute Choir, Handbell Choir, Out Loud Men's Chorus, Taize Musicians, a string quartet and a drumming ensemble celebrated the dynamic, varied and beautiful music program at FCC. We welcome all to share their talents with us. Frank Shelton, Music Director

Musical Possibilities at First Congregational Church
Again this summer we are blessed to have many members of our congregation sharing their musical talents with us in worship.
The summer began with the Chancel Choir and instrumental ensemble conducted by our Chancel Choir Director Amanda Todd Moore in a memorable presentation of the John Rutter "Requiem". Peter Rule, a fifth grader at Taylor Elementary School, played the violin on Children's Sunday (June 10) to help capture the theme of the day "Let the Children Come". On June 17 the Madrigal Quartet consisting of Pam and Lee Lehmkuhl and Cindy and Dave Nath offered vocal quartets to enhance the Father's Day service. Victoria Hansen, principal instructor in voice at Colorado College, sang spirituals arranged by Aaron Copland on June 24.
In July we will have more wonderful and diverse music. Jon Woodhams will offer piano solos on July 1. Local composer Karen Peace will sing her new setting of "Psalm 62" on July 8. To celebrate Open and Affirming Sunday, Out Loud will sing on July 15. We will celebrate our annual Folk Sunday on July 22 and on July 29 the Summer Flute Choir will lead our musical worship.
We are grateful to the many people who have so freely offered their time and talent to present beautiful and spiritual music this summer.
