ALL-CHURCH CAMP OUT A Wonderful Family Experience
 All –Church Family Camp Out, a wonderful experience for all families at First Congregational Church to build community in the beautiful setting of LaForet Camp and Retreat Center in the Black Forest. There will be swimming, biking, singing, campfire, games, talent show, and worship. Registration forms in the church office or at www.fcucc.org . All families are invited to this annual event at La Foret Camp and Retreat Center in the Black Forest, Fri, Aug 27 – 29. Registration deadline: July 28.  Summer 2010: What On God’s Green Earth? OPEN & AFFIRMING SUNDAY
Sunday, is our annual Open & Affirming Sunday, coinciding with the Colorado Springs community PrideFest. Our guest preacher Sunday is Rev. Kim Schwartz, pastor of Vista Grande Community Church, which is the most recent UCC congregation in Colorado to declare itself Open & Affirming. Kim will be preaching a sermon titled: “ONA: Sometimes We Need to State What Should Be Obvious.” Out Loud Colorado Springs Men's Chorus will sing at both services. Rev. Broadbent is preaching at Vista Grande Sunday morning.
PRIDEFEST 2010
Platinum 20th Anniversary of the Colorado Springs event. Join the festivities in Acacia Park, 10:00am – 5:00pm.

- T-Shirts available for $10 in Founders’ Room before 9: 00 service & during Fellowship Hour.
- Sack Lunches provided by Open & Affirming Committee on portico for marchers 10:30-12:15.
- Parade begins at Cache la Poudre and runs south on Tejon Street to Acacia Park. Come march with our church’s delegation. Look for the banner at starting point at 11:30 or join at noon as the delegation passes by First Congregational Church.
INQUIRER CLASS meets 10:00-10:50 in the Library.
GREEN PAIL PARADE, a children-led offering, will follow the plates to support The Catamount Institute, a local non-profit providing ecological stewardship education. For info, visit www.catamountinstitute.org.
SECOND SUNDAY SINGLES will have a hike this Sunday afternoon in Garden of the Gods. We will meet at the Garden of the Gods Visitor's Center, 1805 North 30th Street, at 5 pm. We'll meet in the south parking lot, and you are welcome to go inside to get a map of the area. From there we will go in caravan to another parking area where we will begin our short hike. At 7 pm we will meet at the Mason Jar restaurant at 2925 West Colorado Avenue, near 30th street to have dinner together. If you can hike but not eat, or eat but not hike, you are welcome to join us for whatever your schedule will permit Call Bruce Sage at 433-6524 for more details, or to RSVP.
YOUTH UPDATES
This Sunday High School & Middle School (Grades 6-12) meet at 9am in the church kitchen to make sack lunches for the PrideFest parade marchers! We’ll lead the PrideFest parade at Cache and Tejon at 11:30am. Wear rainbow colors. We’ll meet parents in the Atrium at 1:00 p.m. Please let Marta Fioriti know if your youth can help with sack lunches at 9am!  TAIZÉ Prayer Service happens this Thurs, Jul 22, 2010, 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. Listen to God’s voice in silence, sing chants that become prayers of the heart, and absorb readings of scripture. All are welcome to attend and to be enfolded in God’s love and peace.
