  Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir offers music for the Sunday service and other special services throughout the year.
All that is required is an enjoyment of choral singing and a serious commitment to Wednesday evening rehearsals and Sunday morning services.  No audition is required.  Rehearsals are on  Wednesday from 7:30  until 9:00 p.m. in the Founders’ Room from September through May.  We are looking for adults of every voice part (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) who enjoy singing.  You do not need a degree in music, just a willingness to watch the director.

JOHN RUTTER’S “REQUIEM”
This year the Chancel Choir offered the John Rutter Requiem as its special musical presentation to the congregation on Sunday, June 3.  Conducted by Chancel Choir Director Mandy Todd-Moore, the choir was accompanied by a chamber ensemble of seven instruments. Noted soprano Judeth Shay Burns will sang the solos.

Completed in 1985, Rutter composed the Requiem in memory of his father. . Within six months of its publication, the Requiem had received over 500 performances in America alone. Rutter notes that he wrote the work in a musical language that his father might have enjoyed hearing. A very gentle work, the Requiem reveals a great affinity to Gabriel Faure's Requiem and focuses on comforting the living and faith in God's promise of eternal life.
